About The Healthy Communities Foundation Australia

 

The Healthy Communities Foundation Australia was founded by healthcare professionals to change health outcomes in rural and remote communities. Formerly known as Rural and Remote Medical Services, we have been helping Australian communities for over 20 years.

 

Our Collarenebri practice fills a critical role within the local community and is operated by a team of professionals who are passionate about providing exceptional care and service to the local community.

About the Role

 

As a Driver – Community Services, you will play a crucial role in providing essential transportation services to the Collarenebri community. Your main responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of community members, particularly those facing mobility challenges or limited access to transport, from Collarenebri to Moree and Walgett. Your duties will include:

  • Operating the community bus safely to transport passengers to designated destinations.

  • Assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.

  • Strict adherence to traffic laws, regulations, and safe driving practices.

  • Maintaining vehicle cleanliness and conducting routine inspections, promptly reporting maintenance or repair needs.

  • Efficiently coordinating schedules with passengers and colleagues to ensure punctual pickups and drop-offs.

  • Managing the booking system to accurately track passenger numbers for each journey.

  • Upholding a courteous and professional demeanour, positively representing The Healthy Communities Foundation Australia within the community.

  • Following established emergency procedures, including administering first aid and contacting emergency services when required.

  • Maintaining accurate records of mileage, passenger counts, and trip details for reporting purposes.

  • Undertaking additional duties as needed, demonstrating a commitment to safe practices and adherence to The Healthy Communities Foundation Australia policies and procedures.

 

What we are looking for
 

We are seeking a courteous and professional individual who:

  • Meets the medical standards for commercial vehicle drivers and holds a PT Code applied to their licence.

  • Holds an unrestricted Australian driver licence and has maintained it without restriction for at least 12 months within the past four years.

  • Has a clean record without any convictions for disqualifying offences and no history of refused or cancelled driving authority under The Passenger Transport Act (1990) within the past 10 years.

  • Possesses a current Working with Children’s Check clearance.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, showcasing reliability and punctuality.

  • Exhibits excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at interacting effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

  • Shows a compassionate and patient demeanour, committed to delivering excellent service to community members.

  • Ideally, has knowledge of local streets, routes, and traffic patterns.

  • Demonstrates some IT skills and knowledge.

  • Is capable of lifting and handling mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walkers, with appropriate training provided.

 

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will be required to submit a satisfactory criminal check.
